Hello To All:
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
In our last essay ("The temple of God: The Mystery"), the above words, from John 4:24, were set before us, followed by these questions: "Can we, my beloved brethren, see the mystery in such a text as this? If we cannot comprehend the mystery of this text, how can we claim to be able to fully worship the Lord our God?"
As I look at this text, I find that part of the mystery is contained in the question: What is my spirit? There is a lot of language, that gets tossed around, concerning the Spirit of God and our spirit. But, if your experience is similar to my own, then you are probably feeling as puzzled as I, once felt. There is a lot of language. There is a lot of teaching. There is a lot of preaching. But, I cannot recall any language, or any teaching, or any preaching, that gave me a right understanding of my spirit and the relationship between my spirit and the Spirit of God.
The task, that our Lord Jesus Christ, now sets before me, is to share the understanding, that I believe that He has given me. It is, with a certain amount of apprehension, that I do this; but, do it I must!
This is not something new for me. For a good number of years, the Lord our God has been opening up my understanding, to these things, that will be revealed in these essays regarding: "The temple of God." But, these teachings may be very new, for you, my beloved brethren.
Let it be said again, as it has been said before: If you cannot see these things, written in this blog, as the truth of the King's Book; then, you must not incorporate them into your walk with Jesus Christ. It is only the truth of the King's Book, that can draw us closer to Jesus Christ; and thus cause us to rejoice in: "Victorious discipleship in Jesus Christ."
But, let it also be said, that I write these essays, believing them to be a true revelation of the King's Book. If you think that I am in error, please, I beg you, take me to the Word of Christ and show me my error. But, if you cannot open the King's Book; and put your finger on the text; and show me why you believe that I am in error; then, please, and I again beg you, please consider the possibility that these teachings, regarding "The temple of God" (and all of the teachings of this blog), are, in fact, the truth of the King's Book! Can we say Amen?
If we are to rightly understand the nature of our spirit, we must go back to the beginning, to the time of our creation. Please consider the following texts; and the progression of revelation, from the King's Book:
1. (Genesis 1:27) "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
2. (Genesis 2:7) "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
3. (Genesis 2:16-17) "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
4. (Genesis 3:6-8) "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden."
5. (Genesis 3:23-24) "Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."
6. (Genesis 5:1-3) "This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth."
Please consider this progression of revelation, from the above texts:
"God created man in His own image" - "man became a living soul" - "in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" - "she...did eat" - "he did eat" - "Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God" - "God sent them forth from the garden of Eden" - "He drove out the man" - "God created man in the likeness of God...in the day when they were created" - "Adam...begat a son in his own likeness - after his image."
As you consider this progression of revelation and the texts from which they are extracted; please ask the Spirit of God to bring you to a right understanding of what this has to teach us regarding the question: "What is my spirit?" We shall continue, in our efforts to answer this question, the next time we meet.
Until next time, my beloved brethren, in Christ Jesus, I continue to be:
Your servant and your fellow pilgrim,
Elder Theophilus
